Crockett ISD welcomes new Superintendent, Damenion Miller.
Mr. Damenion Miller’s journey in education has been one of perseverance and success, marked by a deep commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and community engagement. A native of Palestine, Texas, he was raised with the values of hard work, discipline, and service, which have shaped his career in public education. His passion for student success and his ability to navigate challenges with vision and resilience have made him a transformative leader in East Texas.
A Palestine High School honors graduate, Mr. Miller earned a Bachelor’s degree from Howard Payne University and a Master of Education in Educational Administration and Superintendent Certification from the University of Texas at Tyler.
Before beginning his career in education, Mr. Miller was a standout athlete, playing college football and track at Howard Payne University, where he developed the leadership, teamwork, and discipline that have carried over into his professional career. His experience as a student-athlete has fueled his passion for mentoring students, fostering strong extracurricular programs, and ensuring that all students have opportunities for success beyond the classroom.
With over two decades of experience in public education, Mr. Miller has successfully served in multiple school districts across East Texas, bringing strong leadership, innovation, and a commitment to student success. His career includes roles in Winona ISD, where he has served as both Superintendent and Principal, leading the district through academic and financial transformation. He also made a significant impact in Tyler ISD as an Assistant Principal, helping improve student achievement and campus operations. Prior to that, he contributed to Quitman ISD as a Teacher, Coach, and Technology Director enhancing instructional technology and student engagement. Additionally, he served in Chapel Hill ISD as a Teacher and Assistant Head Coach, mentoring students both in the classroom and on the field. Now, he is honored and excited for the opportunity to lead Crockett ISD, continuing his dedication to academic excellence and community partnership.
As Superintendent of Winona ISD, Mr. Miller led the district to its highest academic ratings in 20 years, improved financial stability by reversing a $2.4 million deficit, and passed a $13.5 million bond to fund essential infrastructure improvements. His leadership also strengthened community partnerships, expanded vocational programs, and enhanced student learning opportunities.
