Crockett High School's Mrs. Sample’s Food Science class had a great time in their gluten-free lab today, where they prepared Belgian waffles. In this lab, students compared the texture, taste, and appearance of gluten-free waffles to those made with traditional gluten flour. The results revealed notable differences in texture and appearance, yet only minimal variation in taste.

Crockett ISD put pinwheels out in observation of April being Child Abuse Awareness Month.

April is D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) Month, and Crockett Jr. High will be participating by dedicating one day a week for everyone to drop everything and read for 20 minutes. Research shows that reading for just 20 minutes each day can expose students to as many as 1.8 million words per year and help them achieve scores in the 90th percentile on standardized tests (Nagy, Anderson, and Herman, 1987). To support these efforts, we would like to involve parents by encouraging them to take 20 minutes for reading both in class and at home.

Mrs. Sample's Advanced Culinary class has been hard at work in the kitchen, crafting delicious pastries. They executed the recipe brilliantly and decided to unleash their creativity by experimenting with Cream Cheese and Raspberry baked pies.

Mrs. Samples' High School Restaurant Management class has been exploring the world of pastas, dumplings, stocks, and sauces. They truly excelled in this lab, creating homemade dumplings from scratch that are a perfect 10 out of 10. Mrs. Sample couldn't be prouder of her students!
