FFA members attended the 96th State FFA convention in Houston, Texas July 8-12, 2024. FFA members competed in contests, listened to motivation speakers, attended workshops, and voted on changes at the state level.
We are extremely pleased that for a second year in a row, Crockett FFA received the Golden Horizon Award. This award is presented to the top 10% of FFA Chapters in Texas. This award recognizes a well-rounded local FFA chapter with an inclusive, progressive, aggressive program of activities that promotes maximum participation in order to deliver the leadership component of agricultural education.
Ryan Arizu was presented with his State Winning Landscape Management Proficiency plaque. His application will be forwarded onto National competition.
Camden Aiken received 2nd place in the State Agriscience Fair in Plant Science Division 1.
Cassidy Abbs also received 2nd place in the State Agriscience Fair in Natural Resources Division 1.
Hannah Bertrand, Jayah Cobbs, Christopher Herenandez, Colton Aiken, Jennifer Mendez, Lauren Maitland and Shelby Collins all competed with their science fair projects.
Diana Gomez, Mia Davis, and Sherlyn Garcia walked the stage as State Finalists in School Based Enterprise for their participation in Bulldog Rabbitry.
Ayriel Parker and Jennifer Mendez also walked the stage as State Finalists in the Service Learning Award for their participation in the Bulldog Buddies Program.
Unfortunately the two groups named above had their “Finalist Competition” postponed due to weather, however they will conduct online interviews this week for the opportunity to win the State Title.
Jayah Cobbs, Sherlyn Garcia, and Mia Davis represented Crockett FFA by serving on the State Courtesy Corp.The Texas FFA Courtesy Corps is composed of current FFA members who help with various parts of state convention. These tasks can range from helping at guest registration to helping members find their seats on the arena floor.
Jada Jones, Christopher Hernandez, Madison Faulk, Bryson Smith, Brian Fiolek, Julia Tapia, Ruth Perez and Josue Ramirez all received their Lonestar FFA degrees. This is the highest degree of membership the State FFA Association can award. FFA members earn this degree by strong leadership involvement, outstanding SAE program, conducting community service, earning the previous two degrees and completing a minimum of two years of membership in good standing.
The 2024 - 2025 Crockett FFA officer team (Sherlyn Garcia, Lauren Maitland, Emelie Arvizu, Diana Gomez, Mia Davis, Hannah Bertrand Aaron Villanuva, and Jayah Cobbs) attended the convention and represented Crockett FFA while serving as voting delegates throughout the week.
